Baseball Game Preview: Christian Brothers Falcons vs. Rio Americano Raiders

For the second straight game, Christian Brothers will face off against Rio Americano. The Falcons will be playing at home against the Raiders at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Christian Brothers 2.9, Rio Americano 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Christian Brothers is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Rio Americano just ended the team's eight-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Raiders.

For Rio Americano's part, Pierce Tully made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 6.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. Tully has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.

In other batting news, Rio Americano let Hudson Prior and Derek Gale run wild. Prior went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI, while Gale got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs. Those three hits gave Prior a new career-high.

Rio Americano is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 14 games. That's provided a massive bump to their 17-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Christian Brothers, their loss dropped their record down to 19-7.
