Softball Recap: Carrollton Starts off Right with Win over Lincolnwood

Carrollton gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They never let the Lincolnwood Lancers get on the board and left with a 6-0 win. The Hawks have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Lancers, too.

Lincolnwood's batters probably weren't too happy with Hannah Uhles, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 14 Ks (she gave up zero walks). The dominant performance gave Uhles a new career-high in strikeouts.

On the hitting side, Carrollton let Lauren Flowers and Brookelyn Eilerman run wild. Flowers scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 2-for-4, while Eilerman went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Eilerman a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Vanna Holmes, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Lincolnwood is on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Carrollton will square off against Gillespie at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Lincolnwood, they will take on Ramsey at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
