Baseball Recap: Leeds Finds Home Field Redemption Against Sylacauga

There's no place like home for Leeds, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They put the hurt on the Sylacauga Aggies with a sharp 10-0 victory on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Greenwave, who have now won 12 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Conner Nelson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other pitching news, Joseph Bryant looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

Nelson wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ryder Chambers, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three hits gave Chambers a new career-high. Nash Jones was another, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Leeds is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-11 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Sylacauga, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-18 record this season.

Leeds will challenge Moody at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Sylacauga does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
