Basketball Recap: Tru Dewey Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Golden Plains

There's no place like home for Rawlins County, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 60-53 win over the Golden Plains Bulldogs on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Buffaloes in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won five in a row.

Rawlins County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Tru Dewey, who went 7-for-9 on his way to 21 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Those 21 points gave Dewey a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Shaun Lare, who posted 12 points in addition to six boards and three steals.

When it comes to explaining why Golden Plains lost, don't look at Josh Rath. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double with 17 points and 16 rebounds. Rath has been hot recently, having posted nine or more boards the last three times he's played. Dylan Wark was another key player, putting up 19 points.

Rawlins County's win bumped their record up to 6-13. As for Golden Plains, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-13 record this season.

Rawlins County wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 63-28 loss against Dighton on the 21st. As for Golden Plains, they will be taking part in a tournament against Wheatland-Grinnell at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
