Volleyball Recap: Van Buren Extends Winning Streak to Five

After losing to Greenwood the last time they met, Van Buren decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Pointers walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Bulldogs on Thursday. Winning may never get old, but the Pointers sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Van Buren had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 16-25, 25-21, 25-20, 25-11.

When it comes to explaining why Greenwood lost, don't look at Raylee Wagoner. Despite the final result, she had 20 assists and 11 digs. The team also got some help courtesy of Janie Witherington, who had 11 digs and three aces.

The win got Van Buren back to even at 5-5. As for Greenwood, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Van Buren will welcome Siloam Springs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Greenwood, they will host Southside at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.
