Football Recap: Dodgeland Trojans vs. Deerfield Demons
Dodgeland kicked off their season on the road on Friday and hit a couple of potholes. They came up short against the Deerfield Demons, falling 37-14. Sadly, the loss continues a streak the team started last season, making it ten in a row.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Deerfield to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kai Haines, who rushed for 90 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries, and also picked up 31 receiving yards. Haines didn't just play on offense: he also made five total tackles (2.0 for loss) and defended one pass. Another signal caller making a difference was Cevante Thomas, who threw for 94 yards and three TDs.
Looking ahead, Dodgeland will look to takes advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they takes on Fall River/Rio at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Deerfield, they will venture away from home to square off against Johnson Creek at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
