Baseball Game Preview: DeWitt Panthers vs. Everett Vikings

DeWitt is a perfect 3-0 against Everett since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Panthers will venture away from home to take on the Vikings at 4:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

DeWitt barely beat Waverly the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Panthers blew past the Warriors 15-7 on Thursday. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Warriors: they've now won seven in a row.

Meanwhile, Everett got the win against Sexton on Thursday by a conclusive 16-7.

Tony Williams made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Williams was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double.

In other batting news, Nolan Prevo and Evan Flynn did most of the damage at the plate: Prevo went 4-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs, while Flynn went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Fernando Solis was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

DeWitt pushed their record up to 2-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Everett, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Everything went DeWitt's way against Everett in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, as DeWitt made off with a 21-2 victory. Do the Panthers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Vikings turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
