Basketball Recap: Wilson Prep Now 6-2 over Last Eight Games

Wilson Prep had won two straight road games and Keontae Barron did his part to make it three on Saturday. The Wilson Prep Tigers were the clear victor by a 77-57 margin over the Northwest Halifax Vikings thanks in part to Barron, who went 8 of 11 on his way to 19 points along with seven steals and five assists. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game.

Another player making a difference was Elijah Newsome, who posted 11 points in addition to six assists and six steals. He has become a key player for Wilson Prep: the team is 9-2 when he posts at least five steals, but 1-2 otherwise.

Wilson Prep is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Northwest Halifax, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wilson Prep will welcome Warren County at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Northwest Halifax, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Southeast Halifax at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
