Softball Game Preview: Merritt Island Christian Cougars vs. City of Life Christian Academy Warriors

The Merritt Island Christian Cougars will face off against the City of Life Christian Academy Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Merritt Island Christian has given up an average of 12.6 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Merritt Island Christian is headed into Friday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They lost 14-3 to Space Coast.

Merritt Island Christian saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keri Shea, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI. Another was Parker Morrison, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Tuesday City of Life Christian Academy sidestepped Meadowbrook Academy for a 10-8 win.

City of Life Christian Academy is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Merritt Island Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 4-8.

Merritt Island Christian took their win against City of Life Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in March of 2023 by a conclusive 15-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
