Football Recap: Southern School of Energy and Sustainability Skates Past Chapel Hill with Ease + How To Watch

Southern School of Energy and Sustainability had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 40.5 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They took their matchup with ease, bagging a 49-10 victory over the Chapel Hill Tigers. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Spartans' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 121st, while the Tigers are ranked 276th).

Southern School of Energy and Sustainability's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jonathan Dillon led the charge by throwing for 168 yards and four touchdowns on only 13 passes, while also rushing for 41 yards. Dillon is becoming a predictor of the Spartans' success: when he posts at least three passing touchdowns the team is undefeated (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Kamari Holloway was another key rusher, rushing for 117 yards and one score on only 11 carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Southern School of Energy and Sustainability was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 391 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 13 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Lance Henderson, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
