Baseball Recap: Coudersport Wins Going Away Against Johnsonburg

Coudersport lost to Johnsonburg back in May of 2021, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Falcons put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 12-2 win. The Falcons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Mitchell Taylor made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.

In other batting news, Lawson Wetzel was incredible, going 2-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April. Mason Roessner was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Coudersport was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .348 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Coudersport's record now sits at 10-4-1. As for Johnsonburg, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-15.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Coudersport will host Otto-Eldred at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons are facing the Terrors at the right time seeing as the Terrors are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Johnsonburg, they will look to defend their home field on Monday against Clarion Area at 4:15 p.m.
