Baseball Game Preview: Dr. Joaquin Garcia Bulldogs vs. Santaluces Chiefs

The Dr. Joaquin Garcia Bulldogs will venture away from home to challenge the Santaluces Chiefs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Things were looking good for Dr. Joaquin Garcia after they put the first points on the board on Friday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell 11-7 to American Heritage.

Dr. Joaquin Garcia got a good showing from Hunter Butler, who pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Butler has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Rocco Castrillon and Eric Flores stepped up to the plate in a big way. Castrillon scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Flores scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those two runs gave Castrillon a new career-high. Chase Webster was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Santaluces was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against Seminole Ridge, falling 11-4.

David Montilla was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. That run marked the first that he scored this season.

Santaluces' defeat dropped their record down to 1-9. As for Dr. Joaquin Garcia, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.

Dr. Joaquin Garcia couldn't quite finish off Santaluces in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 and fell 2-0. Can Dr. Joaquin Garcia avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
