Baseball Recap: Wellsville Comes Up Short

Wellsville had lost 13 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 2-13 to make it 14. They lost 16-2 to the David Anderson Blue Devils. If the Tigers were looking for revenge after losing 13-3 to the Blue Devils when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Leland Monte made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

As for David Anderson, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-7. With that win, they brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

On David Anderson's side, Mason Jones was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.1 innings pitched. Jones has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ashton Hinchliffe, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Lively, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three RBI and one run.

Coming up, Wellsville will challenge Chaney at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. David Anderson will be paying especially close attention to the Tigers' contest: after the Tigers face off against the Cowboys, they'll take on David Anderson again at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
