Softball Game Preview: Eatonville Cruisers vs. Clover Park Timberwolves

Eatonville has gone a perfect 6-0 against Clover Park recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Cruisers will challenge the Timberwolves at 4:00 p.m. Eatonville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.1 runs per game this season.

Eatonville took a loss when they played away from home last Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 25-7 margin over Steilacoom. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Cruisers considering their one-run performance the match before.

Lila Downey was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with six RBI, two stolen bases, and one run. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Field, who went 3-for-4 with four runs and four RBI.

Eatonville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Clover Park's offense. They came up short against Washington on Tuesday, falling 24-0. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Timberwolves were not able to get on the board.

With the victory, Eatonville broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-5. As for Clover Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Everything went Eatonville's way against Clover Park when the teams last played back in April of 2021, as Eatonville made off with a 35-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cruisers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
