Basketball Recap: Atlanta Classical Academy Skates Past Cross Keys with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Atlanta Classical Academy). They blew past the Cross Keys Phoenix 83-40 on Friday. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 49-17.

Atlanta Classical Academy had a senior duo take command as Miller McGowan went 13 of 18 on his way to 31 points along with six steals and five assists and Andres Wright dropped a double-double on 20 points and 16 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which McGowan has scored at least a third of Atlanta Classical Academy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aleck Carter, who posted ten points.

Atlanta Classical Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January.

The win made it two in a row for Atlanta Classical Academy and bumps their season record up to 5-6. As for Cross Keys, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-6.

Atlanta Classical Academy will take on Queen City Prep in a tournament on Friday. As for Cross Keys, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Walker at 4:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025.
