The San Marcos Royals will challenge the Agoura Chargers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
San Marcos proved they can win big last Friday (they won by 25) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 35-32 victory over Hueneme.

Cole Dominguez had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 165 yards and four TDs while picking up 9.2 yards per carry, and also picking up 37 receiving yards. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 108.7 rushing yards per game. Another big playmaker for San Marcos was Isaac Murillo, who returned a punt for a touchdown.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: San Marcos was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 240 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive contests.
Special teams also deserves some recognition, posting 11 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Murillo, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Agoura entered their tilt with Fillmore on Friday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They blew past the Flashes 42-14. Given the Chargers' advantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 166th, while the Flashes are ranked 342nd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
San Marcos better keep an eye on Gavin Gray. He was instrumental in Agoura's win, throwing for 304 yards and five touchdowns while completing 90.9% of his passes. They are undefeated when Gray posts three or more passing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Agoura's defense and their three sacks. Will Gelt was especially locked on to Fillmore's QB and sacked him 2.5 times. Another thorn in the Flashes' side was George Hastings, who made 13 total tackles.
San Marcos picked up their first road win, bumping their record up to 3-5. As for Agoura, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
San Marcos came up short against Agoura when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 26-21. Thankfully for the Royals, Brady Dieffenbach (who picked up 142 receiving yards and a pair of scores) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
