Basketball Recap: Parkersburg Christian Comes Up Short

Parkersburg Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a 48-38 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Morgantown Christian Academy Mustangs. Parkersburg Christian was down 46-26 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.

Despite the loss, Parkersburg Christian still got an impressive performance from Alexander Fluharty, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 19 boards. Fluharty is crushing it when it comes to rebounds: he's pulled down at least nine every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Wyatt Meadows, who posted 12 points.

It was another big night for Cole Mathess, who went 8 of 14 en route to 22 points and eight boards for Morgantown Christian Academy. Mathess continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Coleman Spicer, who put up nine points and seven rebounds.

Parkersburg Christian's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Morgantown Christian Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-4.

Parkersburg Christian will take on Ohio Valley Christian at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. Parkersburg Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.1 points per game this season. Morgantown Christian Academy has already played their next game (against Victory Baptist Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
