Pleasant Grove is 8-2 against Lehi since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Vikings will take on the Pioneers at 11:00 a.m. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Pleasant Grove is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Copper Hills a 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won 15 games by six runs or more so far this season.
C.J. Anderson and Mason Hawk Henry were major factors while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Anderson tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Henry pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Anderson got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and two RBI, while Henry went 1-for-2 with one home run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on R.J. Wilson, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Nash Bennett was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Pleasant Grove always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Copper Hills only posted an OBP of .167.
Meanwhile, Lehi faced Corner Canyon in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Pioneers put the hurt on the Chargers with a sharp 10-2 win. The Pioneers not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 9th (when they won 15-4).
Sean Mcafee tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Lehi is undefeated when Mcafee allows one or fewer earned runs, but 12-13 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Mays Madsen was excellent, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. He has become a key player for Lehi: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 10-13 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Ozzie Williams, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.
The victory was the sixth in a row for Pleasant Grove, bringing their record up to 23-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.5 runs on average over those games. As for Lehi, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-13 record this season.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Pleasant Grove hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .363. However, it's not like Lehi struggles in that department as they've averaged .325. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Pleasant Grove took their victory against Lehi in their previous meeting two weeks ago by a conclusive 9-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Vikings since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
