Basketball Recap: Alamogordo Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Alamogordo faced off against Lovington on Friday. The Alamogordo Tigers fell 45-34 to the Lovington Wildcats. The Tigers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Kayle Covington continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Lovington, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 14 rebounds. The game was Covington's 11th in a row with at least ten points. Jojo Perez was another key player, putting up seven points and four steals.

Alamogordo now has a losing record at 5-6. As for Lovington, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season.

Alamogordo wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 48-30 victory against Cathedral on the 4th. As for Lovington, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 58-56 defeat against Espanola Valley on the 4th.
