Soccer Game Preview: Lincoln vs. George Washington

Lincoln is 2-8 against George Washington since October of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Lancers will welcome the Patriots at 6:30 p.m.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Lincoln's offense. They came up short against Regis Groff on Thursday, falling 4-0. While losing is never fun, Lincoln can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado soccer rankings (they are ranked 180th, while Regis Groff are ranked 26th).

Meanwhile, George Washington's match on Tuesday was close up to the half, but then they kicked things up a notch. Their defense stepped up to hand Thomas Jefferson a 4-0 shutout. Considering George Washington have won four contests by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The win was the third in a row for George Washington, bringing their record up to 6-6-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 12 goals over those three matchups. As for Lincoln, their loss dropped their record down to 2-10-1.

Lincoln might still be hurting after the 6-1 defeat they got from George Washington in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Lancers were down 4-1.
