Basketball Recap: Ben Newton's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Lawrence County over Athens + How To Watch

Lawrence County lost against Athens back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Red Devils fell 64-56 to the Golden Eagles.

Lawrence County's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ben Newton, who went 6-for-14 to rack up 14 points. Kj Robinson was another key player, putting up seven points and eight rebounds.

Lawrence County now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Athens, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.

Looking ahead, Lawrence County will look to defend their home court on Friday against East Lawrence at 7:30 p.m. As for Athens, they will venture away from home to square off against East Limestone at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
