Softball Recap: Mcminn Central's Victory on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Four

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but McMinn Central ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They walked away with a 9-6 victory over the Tellico Plains Bears. The win was familiar territory for the Chargers, who have now won four games in a row.

Lauren Peterson spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned runs on seven hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Riley Thompson was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. What's more, she posted two doubles, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Brooke Martin was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Thompson wasn't the only one making solid contact: McMinn Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. The Chargers are a perfect 7-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

McMinn Central's record is now 10-6. As for Tellico Plains, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-8.

Coming up, McMinn Central will head out on the road to challenge Copper Basin at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Tellico Plains, they will be playing at home against Polk County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bears are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
