Baseball Recap: St. Joseph Catholic Takes a Loss

St. Joseph Catholic had lost seven straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 10-19 to make it eight. They came up short against the Madison-Ridgeland Academy Patriots, falling 16-4. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, with their most recent loss being a 10-2 defeat on Thursday.

John Dean D'Antonio was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs. St. Joseph Catholic is 4-1 when D'Antonio posts two or more runs, but 6-18 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Nick Glorioso, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

As for Madison-Ridgeland Academy, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 20-12. The game marked their most dominant win of the season.

On Madison-Ridgeland Academy's side, Case Thomas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Thomas has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Gunnar Swanson was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and three runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Alex Lambert was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.

As of now, neither St. Joseph Catholic nor Madison-Ridgeland Academy have any future games scheduled.
