Recap: Kansas City East Christian Academy Lions vs. Wyandotte Bulldogs

The Kansas City East Christian Academy Lions won against the Wyandotte Bulldogs on Thursday with 82 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Monday. Kansas City East Christian Academy was the clear victor by a 82-58 margin over Wyandotte. Given Kansas City East Christian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 16th in Missouri, while Wyandotte is ranked 257th in Kansas), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Kansas City East Christian Academy to victory were Kevin Johnson and Jared Devine. Johnson dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds, while Devine dropped a double-double on 23 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Johnson has scored at least 25% of Kansas City East Christian Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Kai Lewis, who scored 11 points along with five assists.

When it comes to explaining why Wyandotte lost, one person who can't be blamed is Kamari Murray. Despite the final result, he scored 17 points. Murray scored a full 29.3% of Wyandotte's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Anthony Taylor was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with three steals.

The victory (which was Kansas City East Christian Academy's third in a row) raised their record to 10-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 80.7 points per game. As for Wyandotte, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kansas City East Christian Academy will take on Wichita HomeSchool at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wichita HomeSchool is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Wyandotte, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Schlagle at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Schlagle focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Monday.
