Basketball Recap: Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering Phoenix vs. Collierville Dragons
After flying high against Bluff City on Tuesday, Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering came back down to earth. The Phoenix were dealt a 73-23 loss at the hands of the Collierville Dragons on Thursday. The Phoenix were not able to make up for their defeat to the Dragons from their previous meeting back in December of 2019.
Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Carter Williams and Deaundrea Visor, who each put up seven points. Visor also led the team in rebounds with eight.
Fran Kelly was nothing short of spectacular for Collierville: she shot 56% from the field to rack up 25 points and five steals. Lilly Ann Jennings was another key player, putting up five points in addition to eight steals and five boards.
Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Collierville, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.
Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Craigmont at 6:00 p.m. on December 4. As for Collierville, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 71-50 win against University on the 20th.
