Basketball Recap: Winter Park Wildcats vs. Olympia Titans
Winter Park took care of business in their home opener on Monday (and then some). They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Olympia Titans 58-20. The Wildcats pushed the score to 53-14 by the end of the third, a deficit the Titans cut but never quite recovered from.
Winter Park's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Auria Mack, who had ten points plus four steals. What's more, Mack also posted a 67% field goal percentage, which is the highest she's posted since back in December of 2023. Maliyah Lockhart was another key player, going 6 for 7 en route to 13 points plus two steals.
Despite the loss, Olympia still got an impressive performance from Ava Pazos, who posted seven points along with seven steals and five assists. Pazos is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last nine games she's played dating back to last season.
A feisty cat fight will be fought when the Winter Park Wildcats face off against the Oviedo Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Olympia, they and University will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
