Basketball Game Preview: Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe Warriors vs. Austin-East Roadrunners

Having just played yesterday, the Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe Warriors will get right back to it and host the Austin-East Roadrunners at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe will be strutting in after a win while Austin-East will be coming in after a defeat.

Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They claimed a resounding 69-29 victory over North Murray. With the Warriors ahead 42-20 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Meanwhile, Austin-East suffered their closest loss since February 7, 2024 on Tuesday. They fell just short of Pigeon Forge by a score of 41-39.

Despite the defeat, Austin-East saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Tymirrianna Brown almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds. That was a full 51.3% of Austin-East's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'Onna Witt, who had five points along with six boards and four steals.

Even though they lost, Austin-East smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive matchups.

Austin-East has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 14-11 record this season. As for Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe, their win bumped their record up to 10-14.
