Basketball Recap: Checotah Takes a Loss

Checotah was the 47-27 winner over Berryhill when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Checotah Wildcats took a 47-37 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Berryhill Chiefs on Saturday.

Berryhill got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ava Slagle out in front who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 boards. Cai Cai Counts was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 14 points and nine boards.

Checotah dropped their record down to 1-1 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Berryhill, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Checotah will host Stilwell at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Checotah is facing Stilwell at the right time seeing as Stilwell is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Berryhill, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Cleveland at 6:00 p.m.
