Softball Recap: Toms River South Takes a Loss

After flying high against Freehold Boro last Saturday, Toms River South came back down to earth. The Indians lost 7-1 to the Barnegat Bengals on Tuesday. The Indians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bengals apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2019.

Toms River South saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Samantha DiNicola, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI. That double marked the first that DiNicola hit this season.

Toms River South's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Barnegat, the victory also got them back to even at 2-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Toms River South will head out to face off against Donovan Catholic at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Barnegat, they will square off against Lacey Township at 3:45 p.m. on Thursday.
