Baseball Game Preview: Ganado Indians vs. Schulenburg Shorthorns

The Ganado Indians will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Schulenburg Shorthorns at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Ganado is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.

Ganado had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the nine-run drubbing they dealt Giddings on Saturday. Ganado put the hurt on Giddings with a sharp 10-1 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Indians considering their two-run performance the matchup before.

Cain Hayden made a big impact no matter where he played. He tossed six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because Ganado is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 1-2-1 otherwise. Hayden was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Luke Reid, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Cade Nixon, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4.

Ganado was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Giddings only posted a batting average of .100.

Meanwhile, Schulenburg had to endure a five-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Tidehaven by a score of 5-2 on Thursday. The Shorthorns' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

The victory got Ganado back to even at 3-3-1. As for Schulenburg, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
