The Norton Panthers will take on the Revere Minutemen at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Norton came out on top against Woodridge on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run second inning. The Panthers blew past the Bulldogs 12-2. The Panthers haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
Addison Calo and Chloe Womble did most of the damage at the plate: Calo went 2-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and two RBI, while Womble went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those two triples gave Calo a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mairin Mattei, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Norton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Revere). They never let Barberton get on the board and left with an 18-0 victory on Friday. Considering the Minutemen have won ten matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Ashley Gardner was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
In other batting news, Revere got a massive performance out of Paige Kelley, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and one stolen base. Kelley is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Alexa Kelley was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles.
Revere is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games. As for Norton, the victory got them back to even at 7-7-1.
