Basketball Recap: Jeff Davis Takes a Loss

Jeff Davis was the 40-37 winner over Bacon County when they last played one another back in February of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. The Jeff Davis Yellowjackets lost to the Bacon County Raiders at home by a 39-20 margin on Friday. The game marked the Yellowjackets' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bacon County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Makayla Thomas, who posted six points along with 17 rebounds and eight blocks. Thomas is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down nine or more in the last 14 games she's played dating back to last season. Jateria Smith was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Jeff Davis now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Bacon County, they moved to 8-4 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Jeff Davis didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 47-11 loss against Brantley County on the 11th. Bacon County has also already played their next game, a 44-25 win against Berrien on the 11th.
