Soccer Game Preview: Smiths Station vs. Shaw

The Smiths Station Panthers will head out on the road to take on the Shaw Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Smiths Station has six straight wins, Shaw has six straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

It was a proper cat-fight when Smiths Station duked it out with Baldwin County on Saturday. The Panthers blew past the Tigers 8-1. Haley Ciccarello was a massive factor in the win as she booted in four goals all by herself.

Meanwhile, Shaw came up short against Academy for Classical Education on Friday, falling 5-1. Things were pretty much settled by the half as Shaw were already down 3-0.

Shaw's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Smiths Station, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3.

Smiths Station got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in February of 2022 against Shaw by a conclusive 10-1 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
