Carson Mickem posted a new career-high in strikeouts on Thursday. He struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). Considering he played a big game the last time he faced off against Fremont back in May of 2024, the result shouldn't come as too huge a shock. Mickem has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

Looking ahead, Mickem and Lakeland will look to defend their home field on Saturday against East Noble at 10:00 a.m. Mickem had to take a loss the last time the two teams duked it out, losing their matchup last Saturday 9-5.
