Football Recap: Cypress Woods Comes Up Short Despite Thomason Strickland's Big Defensive Game + How To Watch

Cypress Woods had taken Langham Creek down for three straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Saturday. The Wildcats took a 28-19 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lobos. The matchup marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Defeat or not, Cypress Woods got some senior leadership from Darien Rogers and Coby Guillory. Rogers threw for 214 yards on 15 of 26 attempts, while Guillory picked up 149 receiving yards. Guillory was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield on a catch that went for 66 yards.

Even if they lost, Cypress Woods' defense still kept up the pressure with seven sacks. Leading the way was Thomason Strickland with two. Strickland is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: he's made at least five every time he's taken the field this season. Aiden Haby got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Leading Langham Creek to victory were Jordan King and Andre Salazar. King gained 119 total yards and three touchdowns, while Salazar threw for 214 yards and one touchdown while completing 73.1% of his passes.

This is the second loss in a row for Cypress Woods and nudges their season record down to 3-2. As for Langham Creek, their record is now 4-1.

That contest will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Rogers and Jimmy Alarcon. Meanwhile, Langham Creek is set to take on their familiar foe Cypress Springs at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
