Softball Game Preview: Olmsted Falls Bulldogs vs. Elyria Pioneers

The Olmsted Falls Bulldogs are taking a road trip to take on the Elyria Pioneers at 4:45 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Olmsted Falls took a 13-run loss the last time they faced off against North Ridgeville, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Olmsted Falls had just enough and edged out North Ridgeville 6-5 on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bulldogs.

MOLLY SHEEHAN spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up 19 Ks. Those 19 strikeouts gave her a new career-high.

At the plate, Olmsted Falls' victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was SOPHIA GALARZA, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Those two RBI gave GALARZA a new career-high.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Elyria, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They blew past Lorain 14-2 on Thursday. The Pioneers haven't had any issues with the Titans recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Elyria got a massive performance out of Jaelyn Green, who scored three runs and stole four bases while going 3-for-4. Jayliana Grant was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Elyria always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lorain only posted an OBP of .429.

Olmsted Falls' record now sits at 2-0. As for Elyria, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.

Olmsted Falls took their win against Elyria when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 9-2. Will Olmsted Falls repeat their success, or does Elyria has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
