Basketball Recap: Shawnee Mission South Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

Shawnee Mission South won the last time they faced Gardner-Edgerton and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Shawnee Mission South Raiders walked away with a 44-35 victory over the Gardner-Edgerton Trailblazers. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 41st, while the Trailblazers are ranked 156th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, Gardner-Edgerton had strong showings from Landri Schaffer, who went 7 of 15 on her way to 24 points in addition to four steals and three blocks, and Morgan Beasley, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards. The matchup was Schaffer's seventh in a row with at least ten points.
