Softball Recap: Waimea Menehunes vs. Kapa'a Warriors
Waimea extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to eight on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-7. They came up short against the Kapa'a Warriors, falling 18-5. Unfortunately, that's the fourth time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, with their most recent loss being a 14-0 defeat last Wednesday.
Ari Acosta was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Kealohi Pundyke also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
As for Kapa'a, their record now sits at 7-0. Considering they have won five games by more than nine runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
On Kapa'a's side, Presley Gibson looked comfortable as she tossed four innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits.
On the hitting side, Naylea Machado was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Jaicie Martinez, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
Waimea does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Kapa'a, they will welcome Kauai at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
