Softball Recap: Trinity Episcopal Makes It Eight in a Row at Home

Trinity Episcopal proved they can win big last Saturday (they won by seven) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Saint Gertrude Gators 10-9. The Titans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Gators, too.

Cooper Beatty made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off eight hits. Beatty was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

In other batting news, Taylor Hamilton was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. Those two hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Magovern Rollins, who scored two runs while getting on base in two of her four plate appearances.

Trinity Episcopal's win was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Saint Gertrude, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.

Trinity Episcopal has already played their next contest, a 10-0 win against Christchurch School on the 28th. As for Saint Gertrude, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 9-6 loss against Bishop Ireton on the 27th.
