Basketball Game Preview: Westside Wolverines vs. Fleming Island Golden Eagles + How To Watch

Westside is 0-3 against Fleming Island since November of 2022 but things could change on Friday. Having just played yesterday, the Wolverines will head out on the road to face off against the Golden Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Westside has given up an average of 64.5 points per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Westside is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They fell just short of Orange Park by a score of 73-70 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Wolverines have suffered since December 6, 2024.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Fleming Island, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They snuck past Tocoi Creek with a 64-58 win on Tuesday.

Westside better focus on containing Carson Crawford and Bryce Robinson as the pair were huge in Fleming Island's win. Crawford almost dropped a double-double with 16 points and nine rebounds, while Robinson posted 15 points and six assists. Crawford is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 60% in the last eight games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Ayden Greenidge, who earned 11 points and five boards.

Fleming Island's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points over those games. As for Westside, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.

Westside might still be hurting after the 71-45 defeat they got from Fleming Island when the teams last played back in November of 2024. Can the Wolverines avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
