Softball Game Preview: Miller City Wildcats vs. Patrick Henry Patriots

The Miller City Wildcats will challenge the Patrick Henry Patriots at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.

It was a proper cat-fight when Miller City took on Liberty Center on Saturday. Miller City fell 9-4 to Liberty Center. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Tigers recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Miller City saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Morgan Verhoff, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base. Avery Ruhe also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.

Meanwhile, Patrick Henry put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Kalida as Patrick Henry made off with a 22-3 victory. While the Patriots didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-13), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Mariah Boyer made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. Boyer was even better at the plate, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.

In other batting news, Kasey Nelson was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Brooke Scherdt was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Patrick Henry hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most three strikeouts in three consecutive contests.

Miller City's loss dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Patrick Henry, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.
