Football Game Preview: Summer Creek Bulldogs vs. Kingwood Mustangs + How To Watch

The Summer Creek Bulldogs will challenge the Kingwood Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Friday, Summer Creek really took it to Humble for the full four quarters, racking up a 41-14 win. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won five matchups by 27 points or more so far this season.

Braylin Causey had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 146 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 15 carries. He got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 75 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Noah Spinks, who threw for 151 yards and two TDs.

Meanwhile, Kingwood entered their game against King on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Mustangs took a blow against the Panthers, falling 65-35. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (34), the Mustangs still had to take the loss.

Summer Creek will have to keep a close watch on Trysten Laughlin and Landon Hinson, a pair of players who had a big impact on Kingwood's prior game. Laughlin picked up 171 receiving yards and three scores, while Hinson threw for 290 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 14.5 yards per attempt. Hinson's passing game has become a key predictor of Kingwood's success: the team is 3-1 when his passer rating is 110 or higher, but only 1-3 otherwise.

The victory made it two in a row for Summer Creek and bumps their season record up to 7-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.0 points over those games. As for Kingwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.
