Football Game Preview: Westview Wolverines vs. Omaha Northwest Huskies

The Westview Wolverines are taking a road trip to square off against the Omaha Northwest Huskies at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Westview has three straight victories, Omaha Northwest has 12 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Westview's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past Bellevue East 41-0. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won three contests by 35 points or more so far this season.

Westview's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Scott Miner II led the charge by throwing for 150 yards and five touchdowns, while also rushing for 63 yards. Those five passing touchdowns gave Miner II a new career-high. Kingston Moore was in the mix too, providing Westview with four scores.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Westview was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 224 rushing yards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their rushing yard total in three consecutive matchups.

Westview didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Zahmuri Lewis and Jhazye Smith. Aaron Kolala was another major factor on D, making ten total tackles (4.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Omaha Northwest's offense. They were dealt a 62-0 defeat at the hands of Millard West on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska football rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while the Wildcats are ranked 35th).

Omaha Northwest's loss dropped their record down to 0-7. As for Westview, their win bumped their record up to 5-2.

Everything came up roses for Westview against Omaha Northwest in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 46-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolverines since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
