Softball Game Preview: Hermleigh Cardinals vs. Roby Lions

Hermleigh is a perfect 10-0 against Roby since March of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Hermleigh Cardinals duke it out with Roby Lions at 6:00 p.m. Hermleigh will be looking to extend their current 13-game winning streak.

Hermleigh's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They walked away with a 5-0 win over Colorado.

The team relied heavily on Hallie Ellerbe, who scored a run while going 2-for-2. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two).

Roby never got on the board in their matchup back in March, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Sweetwater on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Mustangs by a score of 10-5.

Roby got a big performance out of Calie Hernandez, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-1. Hernandez is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Abigail Carlile was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.

Roby always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .895. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Hermleigh's victory bumped their record up to 13-1. As for Roby, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Everything went Hermleigh's way against Roby in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Hermleigh made off with a 16-0 win. Will the Cardinals repeat their success, or do the Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
