Softball Recap: William Blount's Win on Thursday Extends Winning Streak to Two

William Blount won against Maryville on Wednesday with three runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. The William Blount Governors beat the West Rebels by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 3-2. That's more bragging rights for the Governors, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Katee Owens spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, William Blount saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chloe Merriman, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. Trinity Johnson also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

The win made it two in a row for William Blount and bumps their season record up to 5-1. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for West, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

Coming up, William Blount will be taking part in a tournament against East Hamilton at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The last three games William Blount has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. West will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Farragut at 5:30 p.m. on March 25th.
