Recap: Kalaheo Mustangs vs. Northwood Timberwolves
The Kalaheo Mustangs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 68-52 bruising from Northwood.
Northwood's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zaid Yunis, who scored 19 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Yunis has scored at least 25% of Northwood's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Abaye, who scored 13 points along with 6 steals.
Kalaheo's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Northwood, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kalaheo will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Castle at 7:00 p.m. on December 30th. Northwood won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Peninsula at 5:00 p.m. on December 5th. Peninsula will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 850th, while Northwood is ranked 53rd).
