Softball Recap: Antigo Find Success

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Pacelli, Antigo was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They walked away with a 6-1 win over the Tomahawk Hatchets. The victory continues a trend for the Red Robins in their matchups with the Hatchets: they've now won eight in a row.

Bethany Lewis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tristin Arlen, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI. That double was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Emma Beck, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

The win got Antigo back to even at 5-5. As for Tomahawk, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

Antigo will host Rhinelander at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Red Robins are facing the Hodags at the right time seeing as the Hodags are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Tomahawk, they are taking a road trip to face off against Crandon at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Hatchets will need to watch out since the Cardinals have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
