Basketball Recap: West St. John Rams vs. St. Martin's Episcopal Saints
West St. John was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They were a single point away from ending the streak, but they lost a 40-39 heartbreaker at the hands of the St. Martin's Episcopal Saints. The Rams lost against the Saints in their previous head to head back in January of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 61-37 score last time.
West St. John's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Naheim Gastearl, who posted 15 points. Another player making a difference was ZaKyren Howard, who had 11 points.
West St. John's defeat dropped their record down to 3-13. As for St. Martin's Episcopal, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season.
West St. John didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 75-46 loss against Crescent City Christian on the 8th. As for St. Martin's Episcopal, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 33-29 win against Pope John Paul II on the 11th.
