Shepard unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They lost to the Lane Tech Champions at home by a 37-19 margin on Friday.

Vernon Cole had a dynamite game For Lane Tech., rushing for 274 yards and four TDs while picking up 15.2 yards per carry. Those 274 rushing yards gave Cole a new career-high.
