Baseball Game Preview: Gautier Gators vs. Wayne County War Eagles

For the second straight game, Gautier will face off against Wayne County. The Gators will be playing in front of their home fans against the War Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Gautier has given up an average of 8.2 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Gautier is headed into Friday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They lost 14-5 to Wayne County.

For Wayne County's part, Brayson Graham and Hudsen Mills did most of the damage at the plate: Graham scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5, while Mills got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Mills is becoming a predictor of the War Eagles' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 8-9 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Colt Branch, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

They weren't the only one making solid contact: Wayne County kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.

Gautier's defeat dropped their record down to 8-13. As for Wayne County, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 13-9.
